The Love of My Life

This is the love of my life and his name is King.

My Dog

He's the best!

I had the pleasure of adopting this beautiful creature on February 17th 2011.  His dental shape and development make him as though he is almost two years old.  He is the most obedient and loving dog anyone could ever ask for.  Every morning that I wake up, I see his big brown eyes looking up at me and begging to go outside.  This dog is also one of the best huggers in the world.  He will just sneak up on ya and wrap his big paws around you and embrace you in a hug.  This German shepherd, Boxer, and Pit-Bull mix has found his way into my heart and no matter what ever happens to this guy, I will always love him and have a big warm place for him in my heart!

Immigration arrests plunge to lowest level in forty years

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/far-fewer-enter-u-s–illegally-from-mexico.html

Upon reading this article, I was actually not surprised by the information that I was reading.  Due to the economic state of the U.S., the choice of Mexican families and migrants to stay in Mexico was not such a shocking thought.  Although very low, the birth rate in Mexico now sits at its almost record low rate of 2.1 children per family.  In the 1970′s, this number could have been as high as 6.8 children per family.  This birth rate and the fact that Mexico’s economy is finally turning around is a huge reason we are seeing less and less Mexican immigrants into the U.S.  Also, American company owners are cracking down on illegal immigrant work forces in their businesses.  This also deters the amount of immigrants wanting to come to the U.S to find jobs and try to make ends meet in the ‘Land of Opportunity’.  This may be bad news for businesses that thrive on the work of illegal immigrants, but the lower rate of immigration and the lower amount of arrests is great news for most people in the U.S that want the immigrants that come into our country to do it legally and to not be sneaking around our borders.

Sunset In Sorrento

Upon arriving in Sorrento, Italy, I was blown away by the beauty of the scenery and the landscape.  This picture sums up my whole trip to Italy.  The amazing views that could be seen from just a road on the way to the hotel was beautiful.  I was walking up the road and saw the sunset and it just hit me that I HAD  to take this picture.  The overexposure, the grainy features, and the dark corners just add to the beauty of the shot.  This has got to be one of the best photos I have ever taken and I also feel as though it also shows so much just emotion.  The happiness that this photo brings to me is just breathtaking and I feel as though I never left that amazing shoreline that day.  This picture really has become a part of me and I am proud to be able to share with the class and who ever may be reading this !

My review/criticism of the Girl Skateboards ‘Eric Koston’ Deck

Upon receiving my new skateboard deck, I was ecstatic!  However, my excitement dwindled after only a few times of getting to ride my new board.  Almost immediately, the board was chipping and started to fray at the edges.  This shows how weak the glue is that they had used to construct it.  A little while longer, I started to notice that the plies of the deck started to de-laminate and come apart.  This makes the board lose all ‘pop’, which means it doesn’t bounce back when you try and ollie, or jump.  The graphic, on the other hand, stayed intact.  It really surprised me how well the graphic was intact after rigorous skating and grinding on the bottom of the deck.  This board has had one of my favorite graphics on it, but that doesn’t make up for the performance it unfortunately exhibits.

Overall, I have been extremely disappointed with this board even though it was a lower-priced skateboard.  I would rate the board a disappointing 5 out of 10.

Today I’m going to review the new Apple iPad 2 and Smart Cover.

Lets start off with the new iPad 2.  Apple’s newest installment in the iPad lineup has undergone some massive aesthetic and technological upgrades since its predecessor.  It is now 33% thinner than the previous version which also makes it slightly slimmer than Apple’s iPhone 4.  The new A5 Processor that it has under the hood makes it blazing fast when streaming internet movies or even just checking email or Facebook.  It now packs a front facing camera that can be used to take pictures or FaceTime chat with friends or family on iPads, iPhones, iPods, or even MacBooks.  This new feature makes it easy to stay in touch with everyone you know and gives a real personal touch to the conversation.  The new iPad 2′s greatest companion, the Smart Cover, is a greatly versatile accessory to pair with the iPad 2.  It is held on by powerful magnets but can be taken off very easily.  It also wakes the iPad up when it is removed from the face of the iPad.  The Smart Cover can be rolled up into a triangle to be used as a typing angle when laid down, or a viewing angle for movies and such when stood up.  Overall, the Smart Cover is a great companion to Apple’s new iPad 2.  In conclusion, I would rate these products a 10 out of 10 for the iPad itself, and unfortunately a 8 out of 10 for the Smart Cover.  The Smart Cover falls short in the fact that it doesn’t protect the back of the iPad 2 and it leaves small marks on the screen when left closed for a while.
